While a Form I-9 can be completed using certain allowable
receipts, the E-Verify program
only works when original documents are used.
Receipts are not accepted for E-Verify as they relate to records
that the issuing agency may
not have yet created, so only original documents are accepted to
generate a case result. If a
receipt is used then the employer simply must wait for the
original documents to be
provided before a case can be submitted to E-Verify.
